Mattiazzi × Collection Objects - MCO Furniture Accessories Planning

For the first time, award-winning Mattiazzi has focused its evolving techniques and artisanal production on smaller wooden products, creating a range of simple and unique items, launching Collection Objects - MCO, a new small brand of creative accessories. Directors Sam Hecht & Kim Colin invited a number of young designers to retain the quality insistence and color style of Mattiazzi's sustainable and environmentally friendly wood, and designed a series of furniture suitable for daily use, allowing the simple and natural beauty of logs to be enjoyed in life.

MCO1 - Quindici saddle

The Quindici seat cushion designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec is a beautifully designed, thin and foldable chair cushion made of polyester fiber. It uses recyclable PET soft fiber lining and uses a special construction method on the surface of the chair cushion. Creates vertically convex, layered decorative seams that are soft, breathable and help keep the cushion in place.

Meet the designer

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec are design brothers in Paris. They have been working together for more than 20 years. Their innate understanding allows Ronan and Erwan to present aesthetic consistency in their works in different fields. Their unique character and balance can be found in public facilities, exhibition venues and interior design. Their collaborations with Mattiazzi include Osso , Uncino and Quindici .

MCO2 - Palmo Hooks solid wood hooks

A special creation from Creative Directors Sam Hecht & Kim Colin. Made of cut logs, the wall decoration looks like a sculpture at first glance. It is actually a hook that is both functional and ornamental. It has a lovely rounded surface and a craftsmanship like a horn.

Meet the designer

Sam Hecht from London was trained as an industrial designer, while Kim Colin from Los Angeles was trained as an architect. They co-founded the Industrial Facility design company in 2002. Their works are considered to be one of the most authoritative studios in furniture and exhibition design, and the cooperative manufacturers Including clients such as Herman Miller, Muji, Droog, Issey Miyake, Panasonic, Epson, Yamaha, Established & Sons and Wästberg, the belief in simplifying people's lives through design, the thoughtfulness of a unique understanding of contemporary life, and the expertise in multifunctional Combined, the products designed are exquisite, simple in style and full of beauty, which can always be deeply rooted in people's hearts.

Currently the creative director of Mattiazzi, a pragmatic philosophy can be seen in the projects they designed for Branca , Tronco and Fronda .

MCO3 - Portobello Portobello Bowl

MCO3 - Portobello designed by Julie Richoz for Mattiazzi, is a round sculptural wooden object that places the bowl on an asymmetrical narrow base, using constructive logic to find balance and skilled craftsmanship The wavy wood grain pattern is combined with the simple bowl shape with a twist. Each bowl and plate is handmade. The rustic solid wood feel and charming colors give each bowl a distinct and unique character.

Meet the designer

Julie Richoz is a Swiss designer based in Paris. Graduated from the University of Arts and Design in Lausanne (ECAL), he established a design studio in Paris in 2015. His works cover furniture, lighting and textile items, and he has developed his own unique design vocabulary. Clients include companies such as Alessi, Louis Poulsen, Tectona, Louis Vuitton, La Manufacture de Cogolin and Galerie Kreo. He has won international awards many times and has been teaching industrial design as a professor at his alma mater since 2017.

MCO4 - Bibita Bottle Rack Bibita Bottle Rack

Simple bottle rack designed by London designer Max Frommeld. Made of natural, untreated, renewable beech wood. Each piece of wood is unique and has different natural grain characteristics. The beech wood is white in color and has a round texture. The traditional groove and tenon work method is used to reduce wood waste. The minimal, hand-finished Bibi Tower is a wine bottle with natural, organic lines and the delicate softness of natural beech wood.

Meet the designer

Growing up in Ulm, Germany, Max Frommeld was influenced by local industrial design and traditional manufacturing, which inspired his interest in creative problem solving. In 2004, he moved to London to study product and furniture design at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, and received a master's degree in design products from the Royal College of Art. The studio specializes in private research and development, and design projects for commercial brands. It is good at dealing directly with traditional material manufacturers, and the designed works are always simple and moving.

MCO 5 - Casetta storage box

The MCO5 Cassetta storage box designed by Julien Renault has a beautiful and elegant texture and silhouette, inspired by the intuitively recognized everyday shape of two wooden boards and two bookends, as if leaving a book on the table. Made of solid wood with a back-to-nature appearance, the Cassetta storage box can be used not only to store keys, remote controls, change and other items, but also can be combined in multiple colors or used as a table decoration to show off the scenery on the table. Add an irreplaceable natural feeling.
 

Meet the designer

Julien Renault is fascinated by industrial design, inspired by the beauty found in everyday objects and the traces of manufacturing processes, which coincides with Mattiazzi's philosophy. Julien established his own studio in September 2015 to develop furniture and objects for various design brands. In addition, the studio also engages in creative direction and photography work for design companies and designers. Clients include brands such as Hem, Lapeyre, Cruso and Kewlox, with a clearly identifiable and strong aesthetic style giving the practice a personal touch.

The birth of Collection Objects - MCO series reflects Mattiazzi's brave and firm commitment to inherit the balance between design and high-quality wooden furniture in the face of rapid social changes, and to play the role of experimenter with designers every year. Published and launched stunning new products, focusing on the dialogue between wood quality and the environment. It is a completely environmentally friendly green enterprise and adheres to the social responsibility of reviewing the surrounding environment step by step.
