At the 2021 Milan Furniture Fair, Italian furniture brand Tacchini released the Pigreco single chair in collaboration with the internationally renowned architectural designer Tobia Scarpa , reviving the classic elegant design of 60 years ago!
Years after the original design was released, the Pigreco side chair has been relaunched by Italian furniture brand Tacchini , and the elegance of its design still stands. The curved chair back, unique legs and triangular arrangement show perfect balance. In the field of single chair design, Pigreco's comprehensive concept has laid an unsurpassed foundation for it. In the eyes of masters, Pigreco is still unbeatable and unbeatable.
The Pigreco side chair was originally designed in 1959 and was Tobia Scarpa's university graduation project. The Pigreco side chair is a dual display of modern style and refined aesthetics. Like all of Tobia Scarpa 's creations, he believes that in order for any design to be recognized and favored, it should not follow specific trends, but should uphold one belief - in beautiful appearance When choosing curves and materials, be sure to start with solid quality. The Pigreco side chair, with its unique and contemporary style, was relaunched by the Italian furniture brand Tacchini 60 years after its initial release and released at the Milan Furniture Fair, which proves that Tobia Scarpa 's design is timeless.
The Pigreco single chair fully demonstrates the intuitive creativity of the young designer. In 1959, Tobia Scarpa wanted to create a work that integrated the concept of dynamic mechanics into product design and conveyed the concept of "giving space taste through aesthetic static objects."
The original creative inspiration of the Pigreco single chair was the triangular shape curve. However, according to orthodox architectural design principles, a four-legged chair can ensure the safety and stability of the chair. Therefore, Tobia Scarpa adopted a pair of closely dependent chair legs in the center of the chair back, which is aesthetically pleasing. The seat provides an uncompromisingly solid foundation without compromising its shape.
The Pigreco single chair has separate sister legs (sister legs) with a small gap, and is supplemented by ingenious wooden joints that connect each other to improve the safety of the seat structure. With these two features, this single chair is still unique today. A classic indicator of a tree.
In order to make up for the inherent structural shortcomings of the triangular chair and ensure the safety and stability of the chair itself, Scarpa started from the concept of a four-legged chair and through geometric experiments, created this seat that combines a triangular base and a semi-circular arc shape. . The sister legs (sister legs) structure separated by a narrow gap in the center of the chair back are connected to each other with ingenious wooden joints to provide a more stable structural safety for the seat. They are the two most representative features of the Pigreco single chair.
The Pigreco single chair uses a curved and covered chair back directly framed on the main load-bearing chair legs. The curvature of the chair back is technically complex and difficult to manufacture. However, the use of exquisite craftsmanship to stack five layers of bent wood is not only ingenious. This challenge is easily solved, and the clearly visible texture of the wooden section highlights the unique aesthetics of the single chair.
The Pigreco side chair looks stable, but in fact the weight of the chair body is quite light. The meticulous craftsmanship of every detail creates its low-key, simple and distinctive style design, and the exquisite and advanced craftsmanship behind it is self-evident.
"Even after many years, when I revisit the Pigreco side chair now, to me it is still a classic and timeless design. I don't think the Pigreco design from 60 years ago will become better with the passage of time and in today's time and space. Or worse, for me the Pigreco side chair is a consistent piece" - Tobia Scarpa.
The Pigreco side chair relaunched by Tacchni is a limited edition product, available in three materials: Canaletto walnut, walnut-stained ash and charcoal gray ash. Choose between leather or textile seat cushions.
