Gardeco Apple art ornaments are designed by designer Selma Calheira, who seeks endless inspiration from nature to create ceramic fruit art ornaments with beautiful minimalist lines. The same series also includes pears, cherries , and figs. , hazelnuts and cocoa.
Selma's fruit collection is lively and sophisticated, handcrafted from organic clay and natural pigments. Each fruit is available in several colors and sizes, and since it is handmade, there may be slight variations in color and size.
Selma Calheira is a Brazilian ceramicist who founded her own ceramics studio in the 1950s at the age of 38 and named it after Cores da Terra (meaning " colors of the earth " ) to convey the idea of creating sustainable art. core values. Another core value of Selma Calheira is social responsibility. She is committed to training local residents of Bahía to work in Cores da Terra and become professional potters. She also actively helps local communities develop and provides employment opportunities for residents so that they can work and live in their own city. In 1996 Selma Calheira was awarded the Gente que Faz Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution in providing economic assistance to residents in the poorest areas of Brazil .
