Designed by Belgian sculptor Marc Caelenberghe , Smile is a bronze sculpture with deep meaning and is also regarded as the artist's abstract self-portrait.
Smile's hollow eyes represent both positive and negative opinions and thoughts. On the one hand, it symbolizes the negative energy that the artist essentially wants to forget and make it disappear. On the other hand, it represents the many concepts, images and ideas that Caelenberghe has seen that have had an important impact on him in his life. No matter which angle this work is viewed from, the eyes of the statue seem to meet those of the viewer.
Gardeco's sculptures are made using lost-wax casting. Smile is a bronze sculpture with a limited production of 75 pieces worldwide. Each piece has an exclusive number and signature.
