Branca is the Italian word for Branch. As its name suggests, the design of the Branca side chair is inspired by the original appearance of branches as trees grow. This single chair was designed by Sam Hecht and produced in collaboration with the top craftsmanship of the British Industrial Facility and Mattiazzi. Branca's soft lines and simple appearance hide complex manufacturing technologies such as 8-axis milling machine processing controlled by robotic arms, as well as traditional woodworking hand shaping and painting. The back legs of the chair provide support for important joints such as the armchair seat and back. They are made from a single piece of wood and are assembled after automated cutting. In order to achieve a seamless effect, no metal parts are used to fix it. Very strong.
With a comfortable ride, light weight and exquisite craftsmanship, the Branca has been selected for the permanent collections of the V&A Museum in the UK, the Finnish Design Museum in Helsinki, MOMA in San Francisco and the Design Museum in London.
