The Calm wall lamp, designed by Aleksej Iskos , offers a new perspective on lighting design, a rare fusion of situational lighting and a sculptural, chiseled aesthetic. While functional in nature, it is also a work of art in its own right. Its surface gently diffuses light, creating a graceful gradient from the edge to the central light source. The dimmable version allows users to create calming, mood-filled light according to their preferences and needs. The matte silicone frame outlines clean lines for a soft, organic design.
Aleksej Iskos often finds his design process to be a strange blend of rational thinking and intuition. Intuition comes to the rescue when logical thinking falls short, and logic steps in when intuition falters. The same is true with the Calm wall light, which goes back and forth until it reaches an elegant balance between pure logic and sensuality. Scandinavian design is characterized by a high respect for nature invested in materials and light; this is exactly what he wanted to incorporate into the design concept of the Calm wall lamp, creating a light that is not tamed, but flows organically. This creates a beautiful gradient between light and shadow, and the surface material can multiply this effect to create a rich and textured appearance. Calm wall sconce has clean lines and will inject a soft, calm but distinctive atmosphere into any space.
Aleksej Iskos is a Ukrainian designer living in Copenhagen since 1991 . He became famous for his work with the co-founders of Komplot Design and Iskos-Berlin Design , and established his own studio in 2018. His designs are both functional and poetic.
