The Italian solid wood furniture brand Mattiazzi OTO entrance side table was designed by Studio Œ, a duo based in Berlin, Germany. The original task given to the two designers by Mattiazzi artistic director Konstantin Grcic was to design a piece of furniture that could be used within the circumference of the chair. During the design process, the two started by exploring structural elements, thinking about how to re-improve the objects that people come into contact with in daily life and give them different uses through design. For example, the stairs are a place where you can sit and rest, and the ledges on the wall can be transformed into into display Planting flower pots, etc., Studio Œ hopes to create a movable extension structure that can be integrated into the living space, allowing people to freely define how to use OTO according to their own needs.
The OTO series leans against furniture and walls like railings. It can be used as a side table in the entrance, or as a shelf and bench for storage. Its overall design finds a balance between strongly defined lines and soft and organic curves, just like wood. The beams supporting the structural house exude a quiet and calm space atmosphere.
Inspired by the exquisite workmanship of Mattiazzi solid wood craftsmen, Studio Πis full of curiosity about the different processes of solid wood furniture, and hopes to present these inspirations in the design of OTO. From the beginning, the wood is cut into beams, then preserved, CNC processed, and finally hand-polished. The exquisite workmanship allows OTO to show its distinctive personality and interpret the characteristics of solid wood at the same time. Special grinding tools carve rounded lines on the inside of the beams. , perfectly interpreting the unique identification characteristics of the Mattiazzi brand.
The OTO series includes entryway side tables, benches and side tables. Imagine returning home. You can sit on the shortest OTO bench and take off your shoes. You can also configure an OTO side table in the entrance to place your keys. When you walk into the living room, the smallest OTO can be used as a sofa side table or as a dining table. As an additional chair and stool, the double-level OTO can be used as a side table in living rooms and room dividers. Regardless of the size, the entire OTO series is small and does not take up space, but is quite flexible and easy to use in terms of space configuration.
