The VL38 table lamp was originally designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen in collaboration with Louis Poulsen in the late 1930s, using classic lamps from the Radiohuset building in Copenhagen (now the Royal Danish Academy of Music).
In the mid-1940s, Louis Poulsen included the VL38 at least as a product type until the fall of 2016 when the VL38 version was re-launched in white with a brass bracket.
In order to comply with the advancement of contemporary lighting technology and energy efficiency, VL38 began to use LED technology; the VL38 black version was launched in the fall of 2017. The black version retains the retro appearance and classic soft lines, but gives a stronger visual impact impression.
The VL38 series is available in table lamps, standing lamps, and wall lamps.
